Sketches

I've started trying to sketch. These are my first two (and my only ones so far =). I really need to work on the second one; her face is a weird shape. I'm gonna try and draw one sometime where you can see their ears...this should be interesting.

Or scary.

No, the first one is not supposed to look like me. And really, it doesn't.

Depressing

Volleyball.

It was just depressing. Last night we lost - and it was a game we should have won. It was just the weirdest, most confusing game ever. The ball was flat, the refs had no idea what they were doing, and we got out of line-up so many times it wasn't even funny. I am preparing myself for Thursday - the dreaded practice. We have to run 19 suicides and do 11 minutes of wall squats. Oh my goodness, I think I'm gonna die. Almost everyone was crying after the game (except me and Kryn - we just giggled, because it's less embarrassing). We go into a little room afterwards and chat, and Shelby said she felt like she was in the principal's office.

So yeah. I hope our next game is a little more...organized. That was just the weirdest game.

Weekend Notes

Notes from the weekend:

Havarti cheese, you are my friend.
Sore Eyes by Brandon Heath made me laugh.
Sand in my hair was annoying.
Big waves at the beach.
Tanked is a boring show. But you probably knew that.
Giggling at National Treasure - after watching only about ten seconds.
Science homework (insert sad face here, haha).

Wasting Time

Prepare yourself for a goofy post. A random post. A long post.

I've been lazy. Ok, more like I had nothing to post. I mean, life has basically been filled with volleyball (TONS of it), tiredness, Wednesday classes, bruising my knees in volleyball, neon, being completely confused in band, the bestest (yes, I know that's not a word) books ever, and neon. Oh, and also dread for tonight's game and next week's practice. Sorry for all of the excuses, but I can't help being busy, right?

So now it's time to waste some time on this silly little blog of mine.

I found some story I had to write for school once. I wrote it when I was eleven. It's ridiculous and I believe I hated having to write it. Here's a little from it. It was supposed to be something about a kitten living with a family of ducks.

One day the ducks found a pile of corn. They all started eating it – all except for the kitten. “Why do you eat that stuff?” he said to one of the ducklings. “It’s good,” she replied. “Try it.” “No thanks,” the kitten said, sitting down and watching ants running in and out of their home. “That just looks disgusting,” he said to himself.

The next day, while they were all in the barnyard, the kitten spotted a mouse. He crouched down and crawled toward it. “What are you doing?” one of the ducklings said behind him. “Shh,” the kitten whispered. “Be very, very quiet. I’m hunting mice.” “What?” the duckling looked confused. “Don’t be silly,” the kitten said. “Mice are just about the best thing to eat – well, other than fish.” “That’s…uh…interesting,” the duckling said, waddling away.

Oh my. That was silly. Oh my. I did not claim to be a fabulous writer, did I?

Well, I just found a story I wrote a long time ago. Oh my goodness, this may top them all. It's extremely silly (as you can imagine). Like the part where a seven-year-old wants to be called "Bob" instead of "Bobby". Wow, I probably that that was funny. What was I thinking? Nothing, apparently.

And let me just say: I love the Dragons in Our Midst books! I know, I've said it before, but seriously. I'm barely into the first one, but they are really good. The first day I started reading one, I was just like, "That's so cool!" - Which I don't really remember ever saying about a book. I typically just squeal or say, "That's sooooo adorable!" (I'm kind of cheezy like that.) I don't really know why I said the books were "cool"....ok, because they are.

Tonight is our first home volleyball game. Yikes.

Things I'm Loving // September 14

Books:
Dragons in Our Midst by Bryan Davis. These are fantasy books, which I had my doubts about, but these are GREAT! I am only on the first one called Raising Dragons.

Music:
What I listen to changes everyday, but today it's Anthem Lights. My favorite songs by them are Circles, Just The Way You Are (yeah, I know, they didn't make up that song, but they sing it), In the Light, and Can't Shut Up. I haven't listened to all of their songs yet.

TV Shows:
What Not to Wear! DUH. Sadly, they don't have any new ones, but I watch the old ones. Look at this blog. Kryn and I did something like this once. It was SOOOOOOO FUNNY!

Have a great day!

XOXO,
Emily

Autumn

The breeze blows through the fallen leaves, rustling my hair. The slight chill of the wind sends shivers down my spine. Autumn seems to be whispering in my ear, alerting me of her arrival. A twig snaps under my foot. Then dead silence. There is a stillness in the air.

The oak's foliage is different shades of copper and gold; the maple's, a lovely crimson. Some leaves now litter the ground, spreading their light. A few float gently on the breeze. There is color in the air.

Creatures begin to store away food for the long winter to come. Chipmunks fill their cheeks with nuts and seeds. Their is a sense of urgency in the air.

Children play in the leaves, laughing at the animals running to-and-fro. The crisp wind nips at their small noses, yet they continue to frolic. Giggles and shouts of joy echo through the forest. There is happiness in the air.

Happy Sunday //9.9.12//

So when I posted this yesterday, my mom thought this is what it looked like.

Wow, that looks like an alien. Happy Sunday.

V-Ball (AGAIN! =)

Are you tired of hearing about volleyball? Well, sorry. You get to hear a little about it again.

Yesterday we went to my coach's house for the third time, I think, to finish our splatter-paint t-shirts. This was after practice. We did the plank ("plank" = extreme pain) and wall sits or wall squats or whatever they're called. It was very painful. We also ran crazily the day before. Not really my thing, but both practices were pretty good. We didn't do as many suicides as I thought we would. And love how they're called suicides, right? No. But it does show that they are pretty bad. Well, I'd rather sprint some than run a long distance at whatever pace I want. I don't have long legs, ok? Running is no easy feat.

Oh, and our game was canceled on Friday. I don't know why...

Today I went to a friend's house. I watched Cars 2 for the first time (please don't laugh) and swam and ate cake and ice cream and sang (ok, I laughed the whole time and didn't end up singing at all) to my friend. Yes. It was lots of fun.

Pretty much I didn't accomplish anything this Saturday except for having fun. Oh well.

I thought I'd share this....just because you needed to see this cute little piggy we call Bandit. And it wouldn't be my blog without any randomness, right?

The First

Hello!

So sorry for not posting....been busy. I don't have time for a long post right now, but I just wanted to let you know that last night my team had our first volleyball game! AND I GOT TO PLAY THE WHOLE TIME! But that's probably because one of our players was sick (please pray for her) and the other was busy (and she is probably our best player). AND! We actually won! YAY! Even if we lost two players. Even if we looked like Cheetos in our socks. And even if we were so nervous and confused we could barely get lined up on the court properly.

I served and actually made is over the net (and one time almost hit my grandma - obviously, that was out). After the game we went outside and talked. Some of us screamed. Amazingly, I did not join in. =)

Our next game is on Friday....we've been told that they are a much harder team. Let's hope not!

GOODBYE FOR NOW!

Cute Jewelry

Today we went to Kohl's. I didn't get anything, but I really liked their Lauren Conrad jewelry. Here are a few I liked...I didn't like the second necklace very much; they had one with the glasses like that that was a hairpin instead of a necklace, but I couldn't find a picture of it.

Hope you are all having a FABULOUS weekend! I put up the FAQ page...sorta. I need more questions....here's the link.
